Team Building

  • Our students learn to respect & care for one another.
  • Our programs foster a strong sense of community.
  • Our programs provide students with safe, inclusive & supportive learning environments.

Overview

Whether the focus of the day is community, confidence, or leadership, our team building activities provide excellent tools to challenge all participants, and enable them to reflect and learn. These activities can also be used to establish a classroom environment in which collaborative team work is the norm, and can be undertaken productively on academic projects. The activities impel participants to work together to achieve a common goal and to use new, unfamiliar, and possibly uncomfortable modes of behavior and communication in order to succeed. Through thoughtful facilitation, our instructors enable participants to analyze their customary role in the group, take risks, try new ideas, learn new skills and develop a community of high performing learners. These programs typically take place at a school, park, or our LIC headquarters.

Client Spotlight:  City University of New York – Macaulay Honors College

Since 1847, The City University of New York has provided a path to success for generations of New Yorkers. In this rich tradition, Macaulay Honors College offers academically gifted students an exceptional undergraduate education, integrating the vast resources of the City University with New York's cultural, scientific, and business communities.

The relationship between NYC Outward Bound [Schools} and Macaulay Honors College has continued to grow and develop since 2001 when our affiliation began.  It was truly marvelous that our tenth incoming class, and our tenth year (my fifth year) working with NYCOB was the best orientation yet.

Transitioning from a full day of activities to a half day dedicated to service opportunities, a logistical behemoth that NYCOB has coordinated with immaculate execution, has re-imagined what orientation means for Macaulay Honors College students.

Macaulay Honors College students kick off their undergraduate career, many representing the first of their family to attend college, with a full day of activities coordinated by NYCOB, that set the tone not only for their next four years as students but for their entire lives as Macaulay alumni as well.
