Our Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School is in the New York Times for their students' involvement in the City Council's participatory budgeting process, which garnered the school and its 45th district $450,000 to dramatically increase safety by placing lights in the district’s parks and in the field behind the school's Tilden Educational Campus in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Did You Attend One of Our Schools?
If you attended one of NYC Outward Bound’s Expeditionary Learning Schools and have since graduated high school, then you are a school alum of NYC Outward Bound! Because our schools are still so new, we do not yet have a large group of school graduates, nor many resources for organizing alumni. We are, however, very interested in hearing your thoughts on how we can help our alumni, and how you would like to continue being involved with NYC Outward Bound. We are particularly interested in hearing from graduates who may be interested in starting an alumni chapter for your school.
To give us your feedback, click here: Tell us your name, what school you attended, what year you graduated, your email address, and any questions or great ideas that you may have. We are excited to hear from you!
You can also join the NYC Outward Bound Facebook Page, where you can find dozens of other alumni. Once you join, invite your friends who graduated from your school to join it too!
Did You Participate in One of Our Programs?
Even if you didn’t attend an NYC Outward Bound school, but you did participate in one of our programs, you are still an NYC Outward Bound alum and we hope you’ll become a fan of our Facebook page, where you can connect with other friends and fans; subscribe to our enewsletter and email list; and enjoy our public climbs at our 5-story climbing wall in Long Island City.
“NYC Outward Bound is…defying the lie, defying the myth, defying the stereotypes about what children can and cannot do.”
—Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education
"I regard it as the foremost task of education to insure the survival of these qualities: an enterprising curiosity, an undefeatable spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self- denial, and above all, compassion."
—Kurt Hahn, Founder, Outward Bound
