VALIDUS PREP TEACHERS NAMED 'FUND FOR TEACHERS FELLOWS'

18 Expeditionary Learning teacher-teams have been awarded Fund for Teacher Fellowships: 5 of these were from our NYC Outward Bound network, and 1 was from Validus! This makes our network the highest regional EL recipient of fellowships. VALIDUS PREP RECEIVES $125K FROM VERIZON & BRONX BOROUGH PRESIDENT

Validus Preparatory Academy has received $125,000 in combined grant monies from the Verizon Foundation and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. The monies will support professional development for Validus teachers, crew orientation for incoming students, and classroom technology upgrades.

As Validus Prep's community already knows, math teacher Jesse Olsen has built an online system called Impact that tracks student attendance, grades and behavior class by class. It's so successful it's now in 21 NYC public schools and was recently adopted by Teach for America, as profiled here at GothamSchools.org.
