College Preparation
The Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School delivers a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that prepares students for state and citywide tests – and for their college careers. We embed into our academic culture the expectation and belief that all students will attend college, and we provide a variety of intensive academic supports, professional development opportunities, and college counseling throughout their time at WHEELS to help them accomplish this goal.
Currently, 94% of the students in our founding class are on track to graduate in 2012 (compared to citywide graduation rate of 64%). These students will enter college with a solid foundation for success in fields like law, government, medicine, education, business, the arts and other fields.
