WHEELS' New College-Access Room Highlighted in NY Daily News
December 13, 2012

Our Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School has received $65,000 in funding from its partner Capital One Bank and the Heart of American Foundation for its new College Access Room, which will house a new college counselor, computers, and a library devoted to financial literarcy and college preparation. In 2012, 100% of the school's first graduating class gained college admission. Read Article

 


WHEELS TEACHERS NAMED ‘FUND FOR TEACHERS FELLOWS’

18 Expeditionary Learning teacher-teams have been awarded Fund for Teacher Fellowships: 5 of these were from our NYC Outward Bound network, and 1 TEAM was from WHEELS!  This makes our network the highest regional EL recipient of fellowships, and it makes WHEELS a recipient every year since 2008. WHEELS RUNNER WINS RUNNER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to WHEELS student Franklin Ventura, who has been awarded New York Road Runners "Runner of the Year" award! This honor is given out to athletes who not only demonstrate athletic prowess, but who also serve as inspirations to other runners because of their dedication and improvement over the past year. WHEELS HOSTS NATIONAL SITE SEMINAR
