Directions to our schools
Our community-minded college preparatory school, opened in 1996, is one of New York City's most outstanding. Created in 1993 as one of the City's first small public high schools, Prep joined the Expeditionary Learning network in 2005 to further enhance educational possibilities for its students. It has become a desired destination among transfer students who are looking for a more personalized approach to school.
Prep classes average about 20 students each, and everyone in the school knows everyone else by first name.
Fair treatment is a distinguishing aspect of the Prep experience. We promote respectful speech and behavior throughout the school community. Everyone honors core values that include respect for humanity, diversity and truth; and commitment to justice, democracy and peace. Students participate in decision-making through town and faculty meetings, and benefit from our full-time guidance and school counselor, and social worker.
Academics are rigorous at Prep, and our performance-based assessment system is demanding. We are proud of our track record: In 2006, 97 percent of our graduates won college acceptances, and 71 percent planned to enroll at four-year colleges.
