Eric Rios, an 8th-grader at our Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Queens, penned the essay “Honesty By Fire,” which explores the power of his NYC Outward Bound pinning ceremony, the bravery of a classmate who refused to accept her pin, and the power of self-reflection and honesty.
This year, 93% of graduates from across NYC Outward Bound’s network of high schools were accepted to colleges, including Princeton, MIT, Bard, Cornell, Berklee College of Music, Penn State, NYU, Mounta Holyoke, Colgate, Ithaca, DePaul, and Amherst.
