Principal O’Hara of our Leaders School was one of 15 principals from across the country invited by the White House to discuss federal education policy at its Principals at Ed Conference. O’Hara was the only principal to represent the state of New York. He leads our Leaders High School in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
College counselor and college access expert Josh Steckel of our Brooklyn Collaborative is featured in the Atlantic article “When High Achievers Have No Place to Go.” The article explores the rising power of SAT scores in the college admissions process, particularly at CUNY, and how it is hurting high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, who can’t afford the elite test prep and private tutoring that give more affluent students an edge.
