Virtual Crew Workshop
Join us Wednesday, October 7, 2-4 PM
Cost: $200 per participant
Crew is our primary means to support students socially and emotionally. It is a place where you can feel seen as your full self, connect over a laugh, build community, and challenge each other to do and be well. Virtual Crew is no different.
This 90-minute workshop will examine how we adapt crew to the virtual space in order to meet the same purpose and achieve the same outcomes. Participants will also be able to opt in to a 30-minute session to connect in small groups to raise questions and tap into the collective expertise of fellow New York City educators.
Virtual Project-Based Learning Workshop
Join us Tuesday, October 13, 1-3:30 PM with two additional 1-hour workshops scheduled at later dates
Cost: $250 per participant
In this time of blended learning, project-based learning remains more important than ever. While we may all agree on the value of developing challenging and empowering curriculum backward-planned from projects, we also face so many different questions about implementation. We may wonder:
- How do I critically evaluate my existing unit plans to ensure that they will translate well to these new conditions and help my students respond to their surrounding world?
- What makes for a high-quality virtual project?
- How will my daily instruction fully utilize asynchronous and synchronous lessons to support students’ reaching deeper understanding and completing high quality work?
This workshop provides some examples and strategies that support teachers responding to these questions. Follow-up workshops will provide you with practical tools for implementing virtual discussions, and building background knowledge and feedback protocols to support high-quality student project work.
