Teacher Communities of Practice (CoPs)

CoPs gather teachers from across the pathway to collectively learn about and implement deeper learning classroom practices. These practices are relevant to each schools’ context and in service of more equitable student outcomes. The CoP structure is meant to be adaptive and serve as an innovation space so that promising ideas can be shared or tried within a school or across the network.

CoPs include:

  • Science, Tech and Engineering Teachers
  • Arts Educators for Deeper Learning
  • Centering Students with Disabilities with Active Learning Tasks That Foster Student Voice and Leadership: Special Educators and Co-Teaching Teams are encouraged to join this CoP to focus on this element of deeper learning from their students.
  • Inclusive Literacy Practices for Deeper Learning: Teachers who are supporting literacy efforts both as common classroom practice or as interventions or additional supports/enrichment are invited to join this CoP.
  • Restorative Practices Leaders*: Any educators leading the work connected to implementing restorative practices school-wide are invited to join this CoP.
  • Integrating Postsecondary*: This CoP brings together educators from different roles in a school ranging from classroom teacher, internship coordinator, college counselor, etc., interested in exploring how postsecondary access and exposure can be integrated into the social, emotional and academic experience of the school. Topics that this group could explore are:
    • How to better integrate work-based learning into the academic core
    • Collaborations between counseling teams and teaching staff to create authentic postsecondary exposure in crew or other classes
    • Supporting expert visits and fieldwork to help students envision opportunities they wish to pursue in the future

*These CoPs are intended to include non-instructional staff (leaders, counselors, social workers, etc.)
