Student Advisory Council
The Student Advisory Council brings together students from NYC Outward Bound partner schools across the city to provide guidance, feedback and leadership on NYC Outward Bound Schools’ approach to working with students, teachers and schools.
Student Advisors meet once a month to speak on behalf of their peers and provide input on how to improve school culture and increase student voice through structures like Crew, deeper learning and outdoor adventure. In between meetings, Student Advisors are tasked with conducting peer interviews, collecting student testimonials and perspectives, and taking part in classroom observation.
I’ve helped engage teachers to better make decisions off of the student perspective. Having that one-on-one connection with teachers really strengthens the conversation and engagement.
