Vanessa Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of NYC Outward Bound Schools, was a speaker at The Urban Assembly’s 6th Annual SEL Symposium Building an SEL Nation on Friday, June 2. She was part of a panel discussion on “Skills for Life: The Intersection of SEL & College/Career Readiness” along with panelists Courtney Reilly, Co-Founder at Skillsline, Amber Lee Forester, Founder and Chief Empowerment Officer at Quartz Wellness Collective, and Abby Jo Sigal, Executive Director at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development.

NYC Outward Bound Schools was also cited in an OpEd in CityLimits written by Brandon Frame, senior director of social-emotional learning at the Urban Assembly, about the importance of tracking SEL in schools.

“It is no surprise, then, that schools in the Urban Assembly network and others committed to SEL, like NYC Outward Bound, outperform other city schools in graduation rates and college enrollment,” said the article.
