Who We Are
New Leaders is the junior board of NYC Outward Bound Schools, and is comprised of young professionals who are committed to raising awareness of the organization’s work to provide NYC public school students with a high quality education.
What We Do
Members volunteer with students in our Network Schools, organize social and fundraising events, engage other supporters through online outreach, and meet monthly. For a full description of responsibilities and activities, click here.
Featured Initiatives
Student Mentorship – New Leaders provide one-on-one mentorship to a number of our alumni who are now in college. Mentors may support students by reviewing academic work, helping them navigate the college-transfer process, providing career-planning insight, and more.
FAFSA Workshop – New Leaders are trained and serve as volunteers at FAFSA workshops at our high schools, helping students and their families complete their FAFSA forms.
Rock Climbing – Each spring the New Leaders host a rock climbing event at the NYC Outward Bound Schools’ office in Long Island City, which boasts the largest outdoor climbing wall in NYC.
